Artist Statement: Nature is the fundamental basis of my art. My studio is the landscape in all its forms, from abstractions and patterns to bold, sweeping vistas (and even the urban landscape as well). Much of the satisfaction I derive from photography is the visceral process of venturing out to make images — the silence of fog broken only by the sound of the camera shutter; the soft crunch of snow underfoot on a winter morning; the fluttering colors of descending leaves in the forest on a Fall afternoon.

My artistic influences are myriad and divergent, but my work is particularly inspired by the beautiful aesthetic of eastern art, philosophy, and poetry — especially the art of the Japanese masters of the Edo period. In keeping with the influence of Zen on my life, I eschew theories and philosophies about photography.

An avid traveler, I have ventured across most of the US, and visited Mexico, Greece, Germany, Greenland, India and Canada. I currently reside in the metro area of Nashville Tennessee, where I find beauty in all four seasons.
